This parable of the Kingdom of God deals with the return of the King!
He (Jesus) was made king….and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it. The first one came and said, ‘Sir, your mina has earned ten more. ‘Well done, my good servant!’ his master replied. ‘Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.’ (Lk 19:15-17 NIV) (our brackets)
- We often desire to do great things for our faith, our community or each other.
- But the King says that if we are faithful in small things, then will be given responsibility for great things.
- Although all the faithful will be granted immortality, they will all have different responsibilities.
- Some will be responsible for 10 cities, some for 5, some will govern, others will preach and teach, some will administer justice, direct worship or care for children…some will responsible for great things…others for small things.
Prayer: Gracious Father, I thank you that you have not asked me to do great things for you. Help me to be mindful of the small things you ask me to do each day. In the Name of the King. Amen.
Supporting verses: Naaman was a leper….and Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall come again to thee, and you will be clean. But Naaman was angry… he turned and went away in a rage….And his servants came near, and spoke to him, and said, My father, if the prophet had asked you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? how much rather then, when he said to you, Wash, and be clean? Then he went down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. 2 Kings 5:1,10-14
