John the Baptist and Jesus proclaimed the nearness of God’s kingdom.

Now after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe in the gospel. (Mk 1:14-15)

- A literal translation for ‘is at hand’ is “is near.” The long-awaited rule of God was near!
- At that time, the kingdom was there – right before them!
- The king was there. The people were there. The land was there. The law was there.
- But their eyes were blinded by a lack of faith and self-righteousness.
- And so the kingdom was taken from them, and given to the gentiles. (Matt 21:43)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for bringing the Kingdom near, for the opportunity of repentance and belief and for planting the seed of Your Kingdom in my heart. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Supporting Verse: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. (Greek: in the midst of you). (Luke 17:21)
