The parable of the Fig Tree is the only parable of the Kingdom that Jesus asks us to learn.

Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near….at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. (Matt 24:32-35 New KJV)

- The fig tree is a symbol for natural Israel. (Jer 24:5-7)
- In the context of the Olivette prophecy, it speaks of the end of this age and the return of their King.
- 2000 years ago, Jesus cursed the fig tree because it had borne no fruit.
As a result, Israel withered from the roots up. (Matt 21:19-20 & Lk 13:6-7)
- The greatest sign of the King’s return for us today, is the budding of the fig tree
(the State Israel which began budding in 1948, will continue to be fruitless until they plead to God for their Messiah)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank you for bringing your people back into the land of promise, and pray for the day when they will bear not only figs, but the fruit of the spirit, and so bring glory to You and Your Son.  In Jesus name. Amen

Supporting Verses:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. (Gal 5:22-23)
